Sharks C grade storm into grand final
FOR the first time in many years the Mossman Port Douglas Senior Sharks will have a side in the grand final.
After being defeated in their grand final qualifier last week, the Sharks C grade team stormed back to totally outclass Suburbs 28-10, booking themselves a spot in the grand final against Kangaroos.
The Sharks scored first and Suburbs scored soon after, locking the game up at 6-all.
The Sharks crossed twice again in the first half going into the break leading 16-6.
When the boys came back on in the second half their confidence was brimming and it showed in their play as Suburbs were completely outclassed in every position on the paddock, both in defence and attack.
Sharks’ veterans Bronsan Ryan, Billy Quaid, Jon Collinson and coach Gary Mackay led from the front, working hard all game.
Jamal Cannon was back to his best in the halves supported by little brother Bryson Creek.
Gauai Wallace, Matty Coulthard, Bryce McHardie, Jermaine Ryan and Jayden Denman all lifted and easily handled the pressure of semifinals football. Young guns Levi Williams, Wynn Adams, Josh Fasano, Kienan Grogan, Marshall Winkle and tackling machine Rory McHugh found holes in the Suburbs defence courtesy of some good lead-up work from the forward pack.
Damien Pitcher and Lawrence Waigana were again strong in attack.
The boys go into the grand final full of confidence because if they play like they did on Sunday they will be unbeatable. The game is at 2pm on Saturday at Barlow Park, Cairns, so come along and support the mighty Sharks.
