Crocs eye premiership

Make a point against Bulldogs, now for Cutters

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - SPORT -

IF there was ever a monkey on Port Douglas’s back it was ferociously shacken off with the explosive first six minutes of play of the Preliminary Final against Centrals/Trinity Beach on Saturday.

With all the talk about going out in straight sets the Crocs blew the game open against the wind with Daniel Young hitting the scoreboard inside a minute followed up by a Jack Riley goal and 2 in a minute to stand in forward Mitch Bohm in Kye Chapple’s absence pulling out before the bounce and with a massive 10 scoring shots into the wind went in to the quarter time 33 points ahead.

The Crocs were getting first use of the ball once again out of the centre via the evergreen Paul Lewis who rucked tirelessly all day and the midfielders had a huge rack up of clearances and inside 50s with Zac Gubbins getting plenty of it along with Todd Shapter, Dylan Wearmouth and Josh Lea. The game was virtually over at half time as the Crocs went into the long break with a 44-point lead with and the forward line functioning, enjoying a number of options in Mitch Bohm, Daniel Young and Gavin Jacks (all 4 goals each)

The third quarter saw the backline hold Centrals with the breeze again led by Declan Kelly, Alex Bendle, Jordan Chapman, Oscar Dodge and Johnothan Hobbs while the Crocs kicked another 6.

It was party time in the last with plenty lining up for a goal and the onballers hitting up targets easily with a change of style gameplan and a 9-goal procession humiliating Centrals by 129 points, keeping them scoreless.

A few of them decided to hand out a few whacks, but the well-disciplined Crocs literally took it on the chin!

The Crocs leadership is organising a supporters bus to go to Cazaly’s for the grandfinal on Saturday. with enough support they might charter two, so get in touch ASAP if you want to go along.

This Saturday night will be back at the club afterwards with all fans welcome with music, food and of course some cold refreshments and on Sunday from 1pm will be the first 2/3 of the vote count.
