NEW AUSTRALIANS MORE THAN WELCOME IN DOUGLAS

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - LETTERS -

It was wonderful having the opportunity to attend the citizenship ceremony in Rex Smeal Park last week.

That a record 27 new Australians from all over the world would choose to settle in our tiny shire is testimony to the warmth of the local community, and the beauty of the region.

Thank you Mayor Leu for taking the time to introduce all the new Australians and for inviting them all to share a little about themselves and why they decided to call Douglas home.

It was also great to see a turnout of friends and family so large there weren’t enough seats for everyone.

The shire is no doubt better with the 27 new additions from around the world.

Luke Theobald, Port Douglas
