DOU­GLAS Cham­ber of Com­merce pres­i­dent He­len De Ross is part­ing ways with the cham­ber, as well as Port Dou­glas. “I’m very sad to go,” she said.

He­len will be mov­ing back to her home state of Victoria, where she has taken on a new role with Bendigo Bank on the Morn­ing­ton Penin­sula, south of Mel­bourne.

“This role came up, and the op­por­tu­nity was there so I jumped on it.”

He­len has spent two and a half years in Port Dou­glas, and will be leav­ing be­hind a strong cham­ber of com­merce that she ded­i­cated dozens of hours of work to ev­ery week.

She will be step­ping down from her role at the cham­ber to­mor­row.

A new com­mit­tee for the cham­ber will be elected at the An­nual Gen­eral Meet­ing on Novem­ber 15, and He­lens re­place­ment as pres­i­dent will be elected from the new com­mit­tee in De­cem­ber.
