Locals line up for GBR race
THE Great Barrier Reef Marathon Festival is on this weekend and is shaping up to be the largest running festival in Tropical North Queensland.
The event not only attracts hundreds of international and interstate visitors to the region, but also creates the perfect event for locals to get involved.
More than 150 locals have signed up for the big event, including Jacky Cooke from Port Douglas Weddings and Gary Venz from Coral Sea Eye Care who will be tackling the gruelling 74km Ultra Marathon.
Organisers say there’s something for everyone on November 6, with thousands of locals volunteering their time.
There’s a free event for the kids, fundraising, volunteering and more.
You can register online up until midnight tonight.
