Gym club locks in short term future in town

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

THE Mossman Gym Club has caught a break, signing a lease at Pinjara Place in Mossman. The lease has allowed the club to secure its short term future.

“Hopefully we can rent it out for a few months at least while we work out our long term plans,” said club manager Hayley Bender. “It has a lot of potential, and there’s already a few big areas we can use.”

The club isn’t out of the woods yet - the current building on the site will limit the clubs activities, with a lower roof that would make some activities impossible.

The club has to relocate from its old home in the Mossman Indoor Sports Centre following a request from Mossman High school.

With the move into the new building on Mill St taking place immediately after the club wraps up for the year on November 25 activities won’t be interrupted. The move will be a tough one though - Ms Bender said they’d be playing Tetris to make everything fit in the smaller facility.

“It’s going to be a tight squeeze, but we’re hoping we can make it work.” If you are willing to help the club move house, you can find contact details on the club website to learn how you can contribute.
