FUNDRAISING FOR KIND
It’s been a good fortnight for the KIND charity, which helps local kids in need. The Melbournebased Whitelion, which held its annual ride to Cape Tribulation recently, donated $10,000 to KIND – the first time it has given to the local charity. Its ambassador, cycling legend Stuart O’Grady, took local sponsors on a special ride on the Sunday after the Cape Trib event the day before. Then the Melbourne Cup celebrations at the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas also was a major success for KIND, with the organisation receiving another $13,000. “It’s been an awesome time for us,” said Nadine Jones, KIND’s deputy president.
