Marathon effort raised cash for Paws & Claws

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - REAL ESTATE -

Emilie and I both have a love for animals and decided to enter the Tropical Journeys Great Barrier Reef Marathon 5km fun run to raise funds for Paws and Claws animal shelter in Port Douglas.

When we heard the shelter was closing and the animals were heading off to foster care to await a new shelter to be built we decided we wanted to help out by dedicating our run to them!

We set up a go Fund Me Page online and also left donation tins at the Quicksilver and Great Adventures reservation offices.

Our goal was to raise $500 and complete the 5km run in under 45mins.

The outcome .... we raised $660 and both finished the race in 40 minutes!

We would like to thank everyone who donated and a special shout out to all the Quicksilver and Great Adventures staff for leaving all their loose change in the tins. The money will be put to good use supplying all the animals anything they need while they await their furever homes.
