Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

On behalf of the Mosman Fire and Emergency Service, I would like to thank the following services and local businesses who donated their time and equipment at this years very successful Road Crash Scenario for the Year 12 Mossman High School Students:

Port Douglas Fire & Emergency Services, Cairns Rescue Tech team on 711 Lima, Rescue 510 Helicopter, Wonga Rural Fire Brigade, Mossman SES, Mossman, Port Douglas & Cairns Ambulance Service, Mossman Police Service, Mossman & Port Douglas Community Funerals,

Oakdare Holdings – for donating the semi trailer, Burmack Towing Mossman – for dropping off the car at the school, picking up and dumping the wreck, the Students in Year 12 and 11 who were the casualties and victims in the vehicles, Mossman High School film crew, Mossman High for allowing us to present this scenario and training exercise.

Along with the presentation to the school year 12s, this scenario also provided the emergency services with a great multi agency training exercise.

We are often called out to incidents that involve quite a number of agencies and the exercise was a great way to hone our skills and work as an intergraded team under pressure and in front of an audience, the end result was a well executed, very productive, professional rescue and recovery.

The feedback from the teachers, student and family members in the community has been very positive and they acknowledged our practical approach in aiming to educate the students and reducing the road toll
