Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - BUSINESS -

Congratulations to TPDD members Mossman Gorge Centre, Ocean Safari and Cape Trib Beach House for taking home awards at the recent Queensland Tourism Awards. The state awards are hotly contested and our winners have proven they are leaders in their sectors. Earlier this month it was all about Business Events as Port Douglas played host to the annual Sell TNQ trade event organised by Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef. The twentyfive highly qualified buyers plus media were treated to wildlife attractions, rainforest experiences, off-site dining, reef adventures plus site inspections of some of our key conference and incentive properties. Feedback to date has been extremely positive and we look forward to welcoming the program back to the region in three years’ time. The annual free Daintree Ferry promotion is live with free ferry travel available to regional residents of Cairns, Cassowary, Tablelands and Cook Shires. TPDD is working with Douglas Shire Council to raise awareness of the free travel and the diversity of experiences on offer with the aim of attracting more regional visitors to the Daintree over the coming months. TPDD is very busy fine tuning campaign activity for the first half of 2017 as we strive to see further growth on what has been an excellent 2016. Tourism Events Queensland launched their new experiences marketing focus on Sunday. The $90 million campaign is a move away from a destination focus to experiences with the five pillars being; reef, islands and beaches, natural encounters, adventure and discovery, Queensland lifestyle and events. The objective of the new creative is to re-energise the brand, forge an emotional connection and drive the motivation to visit. Keep an eye out for the new way Queensland will be presented to the Australian and New Zealand markets. networking Christmas get together! Tourism Tropical North Queensland’s “The Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef” will launch in April 2017.
