WHITE RIBBON MARCH IN MOSSMAN
The annual White Ribbon march in Mossman was well supported, with a strong contingent of men and boys among the marchers. It concluded in the park at St David’s, where several speakers addressed the crowd. Stephen Oldham referred to the fact that 68 women had been killed by their partners in the year to date, an appalling statistic which was graphically reflected in cut out white ribbons arranged on the grass by the speaker. Other speakers spoke emotionally of the effects of domestic violence. Alteouise De Vaughn led the Voices of the North choir in three songs – Amazing Grace, Total Praise and Siyahamba.
