‘Four bowlers enough’

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - SPORT -

AUSTRALIA does not need a fifth bowling option and Hilton Cartwright’s form has only been modest anyway, according to former Pakistan coach Geoff Lawson.

Selectors on Tuesday added uncapped Zimbabwe-born allrounder Cartwright, 24, to the squad for the second Test against Pakistan in Melbourne.

Lawson says four bowlers are plenty.

Hot conditions are set to greet Australia’s quicks in Melbourne on Boxing Day, with a top of 31C forecast.

“On a wicket that stayed very good to bat on, the Australian team ended up winning the Test match with their four bowlers.

“(But) if that’s their theory and they want another allrounder, I’m not sure if Hilton is the man who is ready for Test cricket.
