MONEY IN THE KITTY

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

Christmas has its upside, oddly enough, for Paws and Claws. Coconut has heard that the festive season’s gift giving added up to a busy time at the Whileaway bookshop and many people took advantage of the $2 gift wrapping service. It’s a bargain. And all of that money goes to the animal shelter. In the past two years the Whileaway’s gift wrapping had added about $2000 to the much needed kitty for Paws and Claws. Meanwhile, the Christmas raffle run by Ann Ireland has come up with $3500. Monday when she saw someone she believed to be the same man. She reported the sighting to police who arrested the alleged “snowdropper”, a 52-year-old North Melbourne man. He was charged with a number of offences including theft, handling stolen goods and trespass.
