The first of many cruise ships to visit Port Dou­glas in 2017 is set to hit our shores next week when the Sun Princess docks on Wed­nes­day 18th Jan­uary bring­ing over 2000 pas­sen­gers with her! This visit is part of a 14 night Free­man­tle to Bris­bane cruise, de­part­ing from Free­man­tle and stop­ping in Broome, The Kim­ber­ley Coast and Dar­win be­fore ar­riv­ing in Port Dou­glas. Sun Princess will be an­chor­ing at 09:00 and de­part­ing at 18:00. The ship is head­ing to Air­lie Beach fol­low­ing time in Port Dou­glas be­fore the trip ends in Bris­bane. Al­though Jane has a Science back­ground, her pas­sion for tourism took hold af­ter a four year back­packer trip around North Amer­ica, Europe and Asia. On her re­turn she worked for New Zealand’s largest travel whole­sale and re­tail chain in mar­ket­ing and prod­uct man­age­ment be­fore set­ting up the New Zealand of­fice for the South Aus­tralia Tourism Com­mis­sion. Jane held the NZ con­tract with the South Aus­tralian Tourism Com­mis­sion for 14 years, dou­bling vis­i­ta­tion from New Zealand into SA dur­ing this time. Mov­ing to Syd­ney in 2014, Jane held the po­si­tion of gen­eral man­ager, mar­ket­ing and busi­ness devel­op­ment for South­ern Travel Hold­ings, the par­ent com­pany of The Wal­she Group – a GSA rep­re­sent­ing more than 20 air­lines and tourism brands in­clud­ing Hawaii, Oman, New York, Lufthansa, SAA. Jane was ap­pointed direc­tor, leisure sales and mar­ket­ing for Tourism Trop­i­cal North Queens­land in Au­gust 2015 and is re­spon­si­ble for lead­ing the do­mes­tic and in­ter­na­tional leisure mar­ket­ing strat­egy in­clud­ing the dis­tri­bu­tion of con­tent through TTNQ’s dig­i­tal and Vis­i­tor In­for­ma­tion teams.
