A hundred people enjoyed community lunch

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - OPINION -

The 2016 Community Christmas Day Lunch was a great success thanks to individuals, businesses and many volunteers in the community. Up to 100 people attended the lunch and with the help of 30 volunteers people were treated to a buffet of fresh prawns, glazed ham, turkey rolls, salad, Christmas cake and pudding, fruit and soft drinks. The Volunteers set up the hall with Christmas decorations and spent time wrapping many gifts to ensure all those who attended received a present. Will Cotter entertained the crowd by providing music and Volunteers assisted with the service and clean up.

This was the ninth Community Christmas Day Lunch Mossman Support Services have coordinated in conjunction with the Volunteer Committee who have again done a fabulous job and donated many hours to ensuring this event happens for our community. We appreciate and thank all the individuals and businesses in our Shire including the financial contribution by the Douglas Shire Council. A special mention to the organising committee who spent many hours prior to and on the day: Anne Lloyd, Peter Lloyd, Christine Price and Margaret Quigley. This event would not happen without their dedication and commitment.
