Waifs mark 25 yrs with Cairns show
LONG-RUNNING Australian outfit The Waifs are coming to Cairns as part of celebrations marking 25 years as a band.
The multi-award winning group behind songs like Lighthouse will take over Munro Martin Parklands on April 9 for a concert under the stars. The performance forms part of a larger national tour.
In a message to fans, The Waifs’ Vikki Thorn praised the outfit’s fans.
“It feels like we all grew up together. We are now the band you can brings your parents and your kids to hear,” she said.
“Your involvement in our career means everything to us. You are the very reason we are still playing music together 25 years on.”
Not only are they still playing together – The Waifs are still making music together. They will release their new double album Ironbark in March. It features 14 tracks plus 11 bonus tracks for a total of 25 songs for 25 years.
The band have also launched a special initiative that lets fans download free bonus songs from The Waifs website in the week’s leading to the album’s release on March 3.
Tickets to their Cairns show will go on sale tomorrow (January 13) at 9am from ticketLiNK.
