BACK TO SCHOOL ROAD SAFETY

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

With only a few days left until school’s back in session, the excitement is mounting (more so from parents) and preparations are in full swing. Don’t forget to think about your first school run. Give yourself plenty of time to find a legal car park. Drive past your school this week, check out the parking and signage and work out where you can and cannot park. From Monday, January 23 all motorists need to adjust their speed for the 40km/h school zones. For the majority of schools they run from 7am - 9am and 2:30pm3:30pm. Parents should encourage children to use school crossings and motorists are urged to take extra care around these zones. Police will be performing high visibility patrols for back to school, so don’t meet us by accident.
