Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

Hardworking Mossman bloke finally made it to the Christmas break and decided a nice camping holiday was in order. With the missus he loaded up a trailer with a bike, quad bike, camping gear, eskies etc, and set off in his 4wd, intending for Georgetown, via a few rellies south of Cairns. Of course it started raining almost immediately and by Ingham, was getting serious. After a few days visiting people he finally set off for Georgetown. “It was raining really, really hard,” the hapless vacationer told Coconut. He phoned ahead to a mate near Georgetown who told him they’d had buckets of rain for days and don’t bother. So he eventually turned for home. But not so easy - stopped by flood at bushy Creek, and Rifle Creek . . .Of course when the unlucky couple pulled up in Mossman there were bright blue skies. Not a drop of rain. He’d driven 900 km in the rain and that was his holiday . . . return home so he booked a bus for a very early AM departure. They both slept through the alarms, he missed the bus so he had to get a cab… It cost him a hundred and ninety dollars. The phrase should be, some weeks are good and some are bad!
