Po­lice talk to youth af­ter Woree crash

PO­LICE in­ves­ti­gat­ing a se­ri­ous crash at Woree, Cairns, yes­ter­day morn­ing are speak­ing with a 15-year-old boy who handed him­self in to po­lice.

Pre­lim­i­nary in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­di­cate around 6.10am a sta­tion wagon, be­lieved to have been stolen and con­tain­ing a num­ber of youths, over­turned at the in­ter­sec­tion of Win­darra Street and Shan­non Drive.

Two of the oc­cu­pants, an 18year-old woman and a 15-yearold girl, sus­tained se­ri­ous in­juries and were treated at the scene be­fore be­ing trans­ported to Cairns Hospi­tal in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion.

Two other girls aged 13 and 14 re­ceived mi­nor in­juries and are be­ing treated at hospi­tal.

It is be­lieved the driver, a teenage male, fled the scene.
