Free travel on the Dain­tree ferry is avail­able for lo­cal res­i­dents from across Trop­i­cal North Queens­land un­til Fe­bru­ary 28 with the chance of win­ning a $2000 hol­i­day in the Dain­tree when they ap­ply for a free Dou­glas card. The of­fer is de­signed to en­cour­age lo­cals to reac­quaint them­selves with the magic that lies be­yond the Dain­tree River while tak­ing ad­van­tage of spe­cial off-peak sea­son deals. The Dou­glas Shire Coun­cil and Tourism Port Dou­glas and Dain­tree (TPDD) pro­mo­tion is ex­tended to self-drive lo­cals from the Cas­sowary Coast, Cairns, the Ather­ton Table­lands, Ma­reeba and Cook re­gional coun­cil ar­eas.
