SportsPower aims for a late March debut
THE SportsPower chain is opening a store in Port Douglas near the end of March.
Located in the now vacant shop adjacent to the NAB branch on Macrossan St, the store is a franchise being set up by simon Williams, who has recently been hiring staff.
SportsPower is a substantial player in the sporting goods sector, having first set out in the 1980s, and several name changes later, the Melbournebased franchise has established itself as a chain of 134 stores around the nation.
The Port Douglas store will be the first in the country to carry the chain’s new branding and signage.
Simon Williams and his wife relocated to Port Douglas from WA last September.
The couple’s business experience includes running an IGA supermarket for 20 years in the south-west of WA.
