Sport­sPower aims for a late March de­but

THE Sport­sPower chain is open­ing a store in Port Dou­glas near the end of March.

Lo­cated in the now va­cant shop ad­ja­cent to the NAB branch on Macrossan St, the store is a fran­chise be­ing set up by si­mon Williams, who has re­cently been hir­ing staff.

Sport­sPower is a sub­stan­tial player in the sport­ing goods sec­tor, hav­ing first set out in the 1980s, and sev­eral name changes later, the Mel­bournebased fran­chise has es­tab­lished it­self as a chain of 134 stores around the na­tion.

The Port Dou­glas store will be the first in the coun­try to carry the chain’s new brand­ing and signage.

Si­mon Williams and his wife re­lo­cated to Port Dou­glas from WA last Septem­ber.

The cou­ple’s busi­ness ex­pe­ri­ence in­cludes run­ning an IGA su­per­mar­ket for 20 years in the south-west of WA.
