TOURISM INDUSTRY TRANSFORMATION - IT’S EVERYONE’S BUSINESS!
Now is Queensland’s time to take advantage of global opportunities and create a sustainable future for the industry. In 2012, at the inaugural DestinationQ forum, industry discussed the challenges of future-proofing industry structures and creating innovative and sustainable solutions for industry development, capability and capacity building and marketing. Feedback from the industry indicates that there are opportunities to find new ways to work together to suit a dynamic and ever evolving environment. Since the inaugural DestinationQ, the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) board has committed to exploring the opportunities and strategies that can help address these issues. The board has been working with the objective of “enhancing the tourism industry’s competitiveness, maximising efficiencies and capitalising on our unique natural assets in order to position tourism as the key economic driver for Queensland and therefore future proofing the industry”. As part of this strategy, QTIC invites you to signup to your nearest Transformation Forum to have your say on how we can achieve the best outcome for the industry. Have your say on how the Queensland tourism industry can take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead. These forums will take a critical look at the industry, what the future of tourism networks in Queensland may look like and the mechanism for resourcing these. Nine forums will be held across the state, independently facilitated by EarthCheck’s Mark Olsen. The feedback from your discussions will be provided to an independently led consultative committee that will provide the QTIC board with recommendations and strategies that can guide the path forward. The Cairns information session will be held on the 23rd February and you can register via QTIC’s website: qtic.com.au OR click on the forum destination above to reserve your seat.
