UNDERMINING TOURISM

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

Mr Gordon’s comments detract from the hard work done by Tourism Port Douglas Daintree and Tourism Tropical North Queensland, in promoting the shire as a family friendly destination. It is disappointing to the numerous hardworking businesses of the Douglas region, particularly in in such a competitive tourist market, that our elected representative does not choose commentary that promotes and builds the destination.

The challenges faced by crocodiles, although unique to this area, does not detract from our value as a tourist destination, and Mr Gordon’s focus on promoting the Gold Coast is troublesome, given he is the elected member for Cook.

Wade Greasley, president, Chamber of Commerce
