Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - CLASSIFIEDS -

THE Port Douglas Junior Crocs AFL Club is ideal for boys and girls of all ages and skill levels and the club is looking forward to a successful and fun season.

This season the club will be fielding teams Under-6s, Under-8s, Under-9s, Under-10s, Under-11s, Under-13s and Under-15s who play on Sundays and the Under-17.5s who play under lights on Friday nights. Under-6s, Under-8s, Under-9s, Under-10s and Under-11s play inside a set of modified rules with the key focus being on all team members playing even game times and rotating positions.

The Under-13s, Under-15s and Under-17.5s play for premiership points with these grades playing on full fields.

The club aims for these teams to be competitive, but with the same emphasis on developing players’ skills, team spirit, and to be a disciplined and respected team within the Cairns AFL.

“The game of AFL is fun and safe to play with the emphasis on developing skills and team spirit rather than winning,” club president Trevor Mandersloot said.

The Gold Coast Suns Academy has been set up for any aspiring AFL players and selection in this squad gives players the first steps to an AFL career with specialised coaching.

AFL Cairns Lions representative teams also provide a great opportunity to play throughout the state.

The Under-17 representative team flies to Melbourne each year for games.

Any parents or children interested in AFL can contact president Trevor Mandersloot 0437 290 507 or come along to signon day on .
