Junior Sharks are looking to expand
MOSSMAN Junior Sharks are always looking to increase membership in the Junior ranks, for children aged from 6 to 16. If numbers permit, the club is looking at forming an Under 12 girls side.
Volunteers assisting coaches with first aid and managing teams are welcome with the Junior President’s goal for 2017 to have a manager and first aid attendant with a coach for every grade. Club covers costs of volunteers obtaining Bluecards, First Aid, League Safe accreditation and also any new coaches and coach reaccreditation costs.
There are some home games in Mossman with helpers for setting up fields and the canteen.
Junior players have opportunities to be involved in the Seniors home games at half time to promote the juniors and also give the younger players the chance to play under lights.
This year Mossman Junior players will be again involved in the Under 10 Gordon Tallis Cup and the Under 11 Laurie Spina Cup, to be held in Townsville.
The Under 13 Nate Miles Cup will be in Cairns and a brand new Under 12 Shane Muspratt Cup will be held in Ayr.
Other exciting opportunities for Junior Sharks include the chance to play a mini half time game at Barlow Park when the Cowboys and Rabbitohs come to Cairns.
Sign on day is early February at Mossman Showgrounds, with training starting soon after, with the Season kicking off in early March, through to September/ October.
The new president would like to thank the outgoing committee for their dedication over the 2016 season, with special thanks to Jenni Walker for her many, many years of tireless work.
