Facebook called out on ad ‘fraud’

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

FACEBOOK’S embattled Australian operation has parted company with managing director Stephen Scheeler amid a series of data controversies and a sharp drop in advertising.

Last week News Corp global chief Robert Thomson said the lack of transparency in social media had reached “a day of reckoning” as it becomes clear the global digital media industry is rife with fraud.

“There has been an awakening,” Mr Thomson said. “Advertisers want reassurance their products are displayed in suitable surroundings – they don’t want muddled metrics and they don’t want digital platforms and ad agencies using ambiguity.”
