Mossman Bowls event aids Paws and Claws

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - OPINION -

Paws and Claws would like to give a really big thank you to the guys at the Mossman Bowls Club.

In November last year the Mossman Bowls Club hosted a charity bowls competition to help raise funds for a particular charity in the region.

The funds were raised by game fees and meat tray raffles throughout the competition. The winners of the competition were able to nominate a charity to which the proceeds would be donated.

There was stiff competition from the ever brave Fire Fighters and also the very generous teachers from Saint Augustine’s School, who always were more than willing to throw a few extra dollars into the kitty.

Eventually it came down to a team represented by Peter Santarossa and a team comprising of Bally Hooley staff, Daryl Hoskin and Adrian Boundy with Charlie Toohey in charge.

Charlie Toohey’s team dubbed “Charlie’s Angels” ended up taking out the honours and with $446.60 raised from the tournament they decided to donate the winnings to the much appreciated Paws and Claws.

Event organiser Greg Potter was very pleased with the attendance of the competition and overwhelmed with the kind donations raised by all the participants.

Greg also recognises the competition wouldn’t have taken place without the generous efforts of the many volunteers and he would like to thank them all and looks forward to doing it all again towards the end of the year.
