Slipway a key consideration

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

ONE of the conditions of the approval of the marina redevelopment was that the owners sign a deed of agreement that the slipway remain in operation for three years, and that they would assist the Douglas Shire Council in identifying a new location for the slipway.

Mayor Julia Leu said “the clock is not ticking yet” as the three-year period wont kick in until the deed is signed.

Ms Leu said that she was confident the DSC, The Reef Marina, State Government and slipway stakeholders could resolve the matter of finding a new home for the slipway within three years.

The investigations are in their preliminary stages, but the process has begun.
