WHAT’S A BOOMERANG BAG?

PEO­PLE who sew – the en­vi­ron­ment needs you!

This Satur­day (March 4) is the Boomerang Bag sewing bee in Dou­glas Shire.

But don’t worry if you’re not one who sews, the or­gan­is­ers need peo­ple who can cut, pin and iron as well. (Sew­ers, please bring your own sewing ma­chine/over­looker.)

Not into sewing? Then still come along to find out what Boomerang Bags is all about.

It is an Aus­tralia-wide ini­tia­tive, sup­ported lo­cally by Dou­glas Shire Coun­cil, to cre­ate shop­ping bags that cane be placed around the com­mu­nity and used by any­one (thereby help­ing get rid of plas­tic bags).

Do­na­tions of ma­te­rial will also be grate­fully ac­cepted – any­thing flat and no smaller than a pil­low­case. Of­f­cuts, old sheets, doona and cur­tains are per­fect. the or­gan­is­ers will have some fin­ished bags on dis­play too.

The sewing bee is from 9am to 1pm this Satur­day in the Home Ec Room at the Moss­man High School.

Re­fresh­ments will be avail­able.
