WHAT’S A BOOMERANG BAG?
PEOPLE who sew – the environment needs you!
This Saturday (March 4) is the Boomerang Bag sewing bee in Douglas Shire.
But don’t worry if you’re not one who sews, the organisers need people who can cut, pin and iron as well. (Sewers, please bring your own sewing machine/overlooker.)
Not into sewing? Then still come along to find out what Boomerang Bags is all about.
It is an Australia-wide initiative, supported locally by Douglas Shire Council, to create shopping bags that cane be placed around the community and used by anyone (thereby helping get rid of plastic bags).
Donations of material will also be gratefully accepted – anything flat and no smaller than a pillowcase. Offcuts, old sheets, doona and curtains are perfect. the organisers will have some finished bags on display too.
The sewing bee is from 9am to 1pm this Saturday in the Home Ec Room at the Mossman High School.
Refreshments will be available.
