THE SHIRE’S IQ

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

Good news everyone. The shire’s IQ level has had an enormous boost. It’s thanks to the recent purchase of Claire Graham’s famed “The Edge” — the Charles Wright designed trophy house on Flagstaff Hill — by a certain Professor Charles Mackay, who was able to plonk down the $4.85 million crispies to buy the pad. The good professor, who is a top researcher in immunology, has the sort of CV you couldn’t and certainly shouldn’t make up. So unless you are a member of the Australian Academy of Science, the current head of inflammatory research for none other than Pfizer Inc in the US, have been a researcher at MIT in the US, and are currently a huge boffin at Monash University and Sydney University (phew, how does he do it?) then, sorry, you are no longer the smartest person in the shire. (And you know who Coconut means!) Apparently the good professor, who puts his feet up in salubrious Vaucluse, Sydney, is renting out his Port two-bedder for $6300 a week as a holiday let. Welcome to the shire, professor, it’s an honour.
