Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

Earlier this month I was in North America with twelve TNQ operators training wholesale teams, meeting with consumers and presenting to media on the TEQ Queensland on Tour program. The market was very positive and with growth in TNQ to December 16 at 14.6% this key market for Douglas looks set to boom. A balanced market mix is essential for destinations such as Douglas that are heavily reliant on tourism. TPDD has begun planning marketing activities for 2017/18 and at the forefront of these plans is a targeted mix of key domestic and international markets as well as business events and destination weddings. We have access to many research tools that help inform our planning, these tools are available to members who are planning their forward sales and marketing activity. We are currently working on Discover Paradise, a new consumer website, a trade industry EDM, GBR Drive development and tactical social media activity to push shoulder season demand. With Easter just around the corner it won’t be long till the region fills once more with visitors from far and wide. TPDD Chair Sheena Walshaw will be attending the crocodile management round table in Cairns next week. We will update TPDD members on the discussions. Yours in tourism, Tara
