Port bikers head to Victoria festival

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS - Scott Tibballs

PORT Douglas was well represented at the GT Bike Buller Festival.

Four staff from Port Douglas Bike Shop and Hire spent the long weekend mountain biking and tearing up the trails in the Victorian Alps.

Shop manager Aedan Busmer placed 9th in the downhill expert category, whole shop co-owner Rod Johnson placed 2nd in the cross-country over 50s category, and 10th overall.

Angie Johnson “created her own category.”

“The tracks were amazing to ride,” said Rod. V1 - CRGE01Z01MA

“They were well designed around the facilities of the ski resort.”

Mt Buller is most famous as a popular ski resort over winter, drawing thousands of skiers out of Melbourne to the slopes, and the Bike Buller Festival keeps tourists coming before any snow falls.

Aedan Busmer and Travis Spence (unofficially) represented Port Douglas at Buller in Victoria last week.
