City to bush rugby round a success
THE city to bush round of junior rugby was a roaring success according to Mossman Junior Rugby League president Billy Adams.
“There were 29 games, a 100-plus tries and a thousandplus tackles on two fields from under 6s to under 17s,” Mr Adams said.
He said that the Mossman Showgrounds were humming all day with up to 400 people visiting the town from around the region.
“Only certain clubs get the bush round each year,” he said explaining that it was a round for Mossman, White Rock, Ivanhoes and Mareeba to duke it out. He was unwilling to single anyone from the volunteers out but said that they had done a tremendous job.
“All the volunteers that helped out, they know who they are,” Mr Adams said.
He said he’d like to thank the kids that played “awesome football” and the volunteers that kept the event on track for “a fantastic Saturday”.
The event went off without a hitch with the new Mossman Junior Rugby League Committee putting in a stellar effort to organise and manage the first Mossman city to bush round in a few years.
