Seven gold for Coast at judo comp

CO­RAL Coast Judo Club sent 14 ju­nior play­ers to the Cairns North­ern Beaches Judo Club for an in­ter­club com­pe­ti­tion on Satur­day March 18.

Clubs from Moss­man, Cairns and In­n­is­fail at­tended with over 40 com­peti­tors tak­ing part in the re­gional tour­na­ment.

Co­ral Coast play­ers won seven gold, six sil­ver and one bronze medal for the day.

Nanami Anderson and Nikita Mc­Don­ald fol­lowed up their Queens­land In­ter­na­tional re­sults with un­beaten gold medal ef­forts.

Matilda Mc­Don­ald, Julie Anderson and Lily Sch­midt were also un­beaten dur­ing the day.

Fight of the day went to Brian Har­ris and Nikita Mc Don­ald (both from Co­ral Coast) for a fight which lasted over seven min­utes.

Club Coach, Andy Sch­midt said “ei­ther player could have won, how­ever the de­ter­mi­na­tion and ef­fort by both play­ers was out­stand­ing.”
