DAINTREE ULCER CASE

DAINTREE res­i­dents are be­ing urged to take pre­cau­tions when ven­tur­ing into the rain­for­est or gar­den, fol­low­ing a new case of a flesh-eat­ing dis­ease iden­ti­fied in the re­gion. The Cairns and Hin­ter­land Hos­pi­tal and Health Ser­vice has con­firmed a res­i­dent in the Daintree re­gion has be­come in­fected with Daintree Ulcer. The bac­te­rial dis­ease can leave peo­ple dis­fig­ured if not di­ag­nosed, sur­gi­cally re­moved, and then treated with an­tibi­otics.
