A 20ML reservoir is to be constructed at Craigle “without delay” according to a resolution of the Douglas Shire Council at its meeting yesterday. This is one of seven short term and three medium term strategies to ensure the Shire’s water security and reliability into the future. Other short term initiatives include an investigation into a site at Drumsara Quarry on the Mossman River as a potential source for the Mossman/Port Douglas system; assessment of an upgrade of the waste recovery system at the Mossman Treatment Plant; locating and repairing any significant water leaks in the Mossman/Port Douglas/Whyanbeel reticulation system; and the establishment of a ”whole of water system model and network analysis” for the Mossman/Port Douglas water system.
