Support for drink licence

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

SUPPORT for a liquor licence application by Choo Choos, St Crispins Avenue, Port Douglas, was approved by the Douglas Shire Council with some recommendations to the Office of Liquor and Gaming in relation to reducing noise issues with adjacent residents.

Although the provision of a licence is up to the Office of Liquor, Councils can provide recommendations of conditions to the licence.

Cr Noli asked why this application was not part of the development proposal and Mr Simon Clarke, Council’s Planning Coordinator, explained that although the business had been in abeyance for 12 years, this application would be considered “existing use” as the business was not abandoned by its owner, merely not operational.

The conditions recommended by Council to the Office of Liquor include the installation of acoustic noise barriers and a reduction from the requested hours from 10am to 12 midnight to 10am to 10pm.

All submissions and complaints are to be directed to the Office of Liquor and Gaming.
