Mar­lins ben­e­fit from ex-Di­a­monds coaches

DOU­GLAS Net­ball As­so­ci­a­tion sea­son has hit the ground run­ning, fol­low­ing the “fast five” games which were played in Moss­man as an in­tro­duc­tion to the sea­son.

On Tues­day the ju­nior teams were first up, with Fu­sion beat­ing the Cro­cettes 35-15. Fire­birds re­ally were on fire, win­ning over the Jets 19-3. Magic played Sparks, win­ning 9-2. Anaz­zarah Ross-Kelly was best and fairest.

Round one of the for­mal comp in the se­nior di­vi­sions saw Young Guns 1 de­feat Rat­tle 1, 43-14, Hazuki Kirby and Naomi Glen were named player’s choice.

Crocs 3 de­feated Crocs 2, 49-31. Young Guns 3 came away with the win over Hab­it­abs, 21-20. Sarah Re­na­han and Kirsten Jeffs were named player’s choice, and best and fairest went to Young guns 3 player Robyn Bru­en­ing.

Mud­skip­pers’ Cassie Cairns was both player’s choice and best and fairest af­ter a 24-24 draw against Cougers.

Con­grat­u­la­tions go to Lana Bax­ter and Jorja Har­vey who have been se­lected for the Ken­frost Homes Vicki Wil­son Mar­lin Coast Net­ball Academy. The squad will travel to Sin­ga­pore in June for a train­ing camp and match play. Other re­sults Ju­nior: Ami­gos - 5 v Senori­tas-1. Kirsty’s Team -5 v Pan­thers -3. Se­nior: Young Guns 2 – 30 v Rat­tle 2- 23.
