Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - BUSINESS -

The key focus of the Daintree Smart Card Campaign was to attract a greater percentage of day visitors from the regional community and to increase card applications from November 2016 to February 2017. Locals were encouraged to apply and use the Daintree Ferry card. This was completed using a two-part promotion on local radio and social media channels. The radio component of the 2016-17 Daintree Ferry promotion advertised free ferry opportunity featuring the Douglas Shire Council website as the call to action for people to apply for their free travel card. The radio campaign ran for 1 week and included daily giveaways with prizes donated from members and on air promotion on the Triple MMM breakfast show. Promotion was also featured on the Mareeba channel for the Atherton Tablelands. The second component was the mega competition which was open to anyone applying for a Daintree Ferry card from 10 January to 28 February 2017. To market the competition a paid regional Facebook campaign was used to boost entries and increase overall awareness. This was targeted specifically at the local demographic including men/women aged 18 – 65 from the Cassowary Coast, Cook Shire, Mareeba Shire, Tablelands Regional Council, Douglas Shire Council and Cairns Regional Council. The promotion was a great success with 479 residents applying for a Douglas Card and the TPDD website experiencing an increase of 116% from the targeted markets! A BIG thank you to the Douglas Shire Council for their support with this campaign. business with insights and practical steps to discover, develop, deliver and share stories with your guests.
