Ex-deputy mayor in running for Cook
FORMER Cooktown deputy mayor Penny Johnson has been named the LNP candidate for Cook.
Ms Johnson served as a councillor in the previous term.
The seat is held by controversial independent MP Billy Gordon, who has yet to confirm he will run again.
Recently Tania Major, a former Young Australian of the Year, announced she would seek ALP endorsement for the seat.
The LNP also announced its candidate for the newlycreated seat of Hill on Sunday with cane farmer Mario Quagliata getting the nod despite the party’s plans to shift Mulgrave candidate Robyn Quick into the spot last month.
