Welcome to Julatten SS
JULATTEN State School has recently welcomed two new members of staff.
Permanent principal Mrs Gaye Lovelock started in Term 2 and has had a busy few weeks with Small Schools Cross Country Carnival, Anzac Day, Year 4/5/6 Camp and moving house to Julatten.
Mrs Lovelock has worked in education for over 36 years, starting as an Early Childhood teacher in Central Queensland. She spent the past few years as Head of Campus at Injinoo, P-6 campus of Northern Peninsula Area State College, located close to Bamaga.
Mrs Lovelock was a first time principal at Chillagoe State School, where she learnt the importance of active and responsible school leadership in a rural community.
Mrs Lovelock is impressed with Julatten students’ love of learning, positive attitude and the overall nurturing ethos of the school.
Mrs Joanne Warburton arrived in Julatten this month to begin her appointment as class teacher for Years 4/5/6.
Mrs Warburton has moved from the Sunshine Coast where she was a special education and support teacher.
She spent seven years in Kuwait and Egypt as an international teacher and drama co-ordinator.
Mrs W is already involved in Student Council with student leaders and is looking forward to a special year of building relationships with the whole school community.
Julatten staff are working with P&C on plans for the beautification of the school entry, with new pathways, gardens and easier public access to the office.
Mrs Lovelock is keen to advance these plans to attract community pride and well-deserved confidence in the school. Both new staff members believe they are privileged to be appointed and welcomed by such caring students, parents, families, staff and the community.
