WHERE WOULD WE BE WITHOUT BACKPACKERS

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS @SCHOOL -

This is in defence of backpackers. A lot of businesses in Port would be struggling if it wasn’t for the input of these people. Not only do they help in the workplace they also spend a lot of money.

I have met quite a few and without exception they have been lovely people..

As far as bicycles being stolen, one of the first things that happened to us when we came to Port in ‘81 was that we had our bikes stolen, it’s always been a problem in Port.

Same with break-ins. We’ve had our place broken into, a few times, and not by backpackers.

As far as shopping trolleys go if Coles fined a few people $100 or so if they took the trolleys outside the premises, then it wouldn’t take long for the practice to stop.

There are always going to be some bad eggs, but overall we should be welcoming these people.
