CRUSH STARTS ON JUNE 5
The sugar industry will ramp up over the next two weeks in the Douglas Shire and Mossman Central Mill manager, Hadyn Slattery, is reminding the public to be aware. “We need to remind people to be safe around railway crossings,” Mr Slattery said, “and to obey flashing lights at all crossings. “The trains and trucks will be in full operation by June 4, so it is important people look out for trains from then on.” The Mill is undergoing steam trials and commissioning of the plant over the next two weeks. “The crop looks good due to the fantastic weather we have had,” he said.
