The sugar in­dus­try will ramp up over the next two weeks in the Dou­glas Shire and Moss­man Cen­tral Mill man­ager, Ha­dyn Slat­tery, is re­mind­ing the pub­lic to be aware. “We need to re­mind peo­ple to be safe around rail­way cross­ings,” Mr Slat­tery said, “and to obey flash­ing lights at all cross­ings. “The trains and trucks will be in full op­er­a­tion by June 4, so it is im­por­tant peo­ple look out for trains from then on.” The Mill is un­der­go­ing steam tri­als and com­mis­sion­ing of the plant over the next two weeks. “The crop looks good due to the fan­tas­tic weather we have had,” he said.
