IN DEFENCE OF A PAWS AND CLAWS VOLUNTEER
I write this public letter as I am thoroughly disgusted at the action of a gentleman recently towards one of the volunteers assisting to raise money for Paws and Claws.
Recently we had committee members and volunteers selling raffle tickets outside the two supermarkets for Paws and Claws to raise money for the association.
One of our volunteers was verbally attacked by this gentleman making ridiculous, untrue and unfounded accusations about the actions of a committee member and the substance of the association.
Paws and Claws is still very much active currently fostering eight dogs and three cats and kittens.
There are new animals arriving constantly which all require medical attention, de-sexing, vaccinations and often special dietary requirements.
We have also recently signed the lease to operate a shop in Front Street, Mossman, to sell preloved to help raise funds.
We have numerous businesses in the shire that are keen animal lovers and often assist our association when they can, which we give credit back to them via the website, social media and often very kindly through Michael Gabour on Port FM.
The organisation is audited by not only our bookkeeper (qualified accountant) and external accountant but also through various other government departments.
Our many volunteers do not deserve to be spoken to or about in this manner and if anyone has any complaints or enquiries about the organisation or its operation please do not hesitate to call me directly on 0432 987 442.
