“There were 9000 plus peo­ple at the street pa­rade and more 10,000 peo­ple at both the Beach Day and Spiegel­tent events,” she said.

World renowned show La Soiree re­ceived rave re­views and was so pop­u­lar they had to sched­ule an­other show.

“Over­all the event was a huge suc­cess with an in­crease on pre­vi­ous year’s num­bers and mil­lions of dol­lars com­ing into the Port Dou­glas econ­omy,” Ms Head said.

Dou­glas Shire Mayor Ju­lia Leu was pleased Port was able to host such stel­lar shows. “To achieve such an amaz­ing line up of events, on what is a lim­ited bud­get and also get shows of the cal­i­bre of La Soiree is re­mark­able for a com­mu­nity of our size,” Ms Leu said.

“Melissa Head and her Knock­out Events Team have done an awe­some job with Car­ni­vale this year. We were treated to a huge va­ri­ety of events and the weather was just glo­ri­ous.

“While Car­ni­vale is a fan­tas­tic com­mu­nity fes­ti­val for all of us to en­joy, the prime aim is to pro­mote our stun­ning Shire and drive vis­i­ta­tion to our area,” the Mayor said.

Visi­tors like the Michell fam ily of NSW. Early on Sun­daythey had wan­dered down by Dixie Park and found them­selves in­vited in to see Lah Lah, the kids band. Then their kids flew kites at the Beach Day.

“All for free. It’s just been magic,” said Claire Michell.

Melissa Head said she loved work­ing in Port Dou­glas and hopes to or­gan­ise the fa­mous party in par­adise next year.
