Cape kids charged

A 12-year-old boy from Napranum is the lat­est to be charged as part of on­go­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tion into a fire that gut­ted a com­mu­nity hall in the Cape York com­mu­nity on May 21.

The build­ing sus­tained sig­nif­i­cant dam­age in the blaze and a num­ber of chil­dren were ob­served flee­ing the scene on foot.

The boy was lo­cated and charged yes­ter­day af­ter­noon with one count of ar­son.

Two other boys aged 12 and 13 have been sim­i­larly charged dur­ing the past week and a 9year-old boy has also been coun­selled in re­la­tion to the mat­ter.

In an­other prop­erty re­lated in­ves­ti­ga­tions re­lat­ing to the Napranum com­mu­nity, a 15year-old lo­cal boy was charged yes­ter­day with two counts of break­ing and en­ter­ing premises and one count of wil­ful dam­age.
