CRUSH DISRUPTED

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

The throughput for Mossman Mill was hampered during the first week of crushing with poor plant availability as well as several major breakdown events and some process control issues around the evaporators and boilers. The factory processed 14,671 tonnes of cane at an average crushing rate of 352t/ hr. The major down time during the week was due to No 1 Mill delivery roller scraper plate breaking, the control valve on the effets failing, a massecuite pump drive failure, and trips from control issues on the boiler stream drum levels. Despite plant availability being at 30 per cent the factory tonnage was 84 per cent of budgeted throughput with the higher crushing rate achieved during the week. CCS average for the week was 11.46.
