Thala’s beach gets in the picture with Bundy Rum
DOES this beach look familiar to you? It should. The famous Bundy Rum bear visited Thala Beach nature reserve to film a set of its classic rum ads.
The seven ads, filmed at Thala over five nights, was to push Bundaberg Rum’s new product Lazy Bear.
Wade Bowen, the Thala resort’s sales and marketing manager, was glad the reserve “came up trumps” above other beautiful locations. “It’s pretty amazing, I feel a bit of pride when I see the images of our beach,” he said.
“When we go down to the beach where it was filmed, I’ll point out the Bundy ad was filmed here – there’s some ‘wow’ factor about it. “I think it’s great exposure.” Thala has gained massive exposure as the ad plays before punters watch movies on Qantas flights, although it doesn’t specify the location.
“It just highlights some of the beautiful places we’ve got around here,” Mr Bowen said.
“There’s lot of places around the world that have beaches and coconuts but it’s pretty special they chose Thala.”
The ad features a few mates lazing in hammocks on the beach using the “Newton’s cradle” technique to grab a drink for the esky perched up on a coconut tree. And of course the iconic Bundy Bear also makes an appearance.
