Extravaganza – it’s back!
AFTER a year’s absence, the Port Douglas Seafood Extravaganza is returning with gusto at the Reef Marina, hosted by Hemingway’s, coinciding with the brewery’s first birthday.
To be held on Sunday 9 July, the Seafood Extravaganza will feature seafood, beers, wines, music and lots of family fun.
According to Mr Chris Barber from Hemingway’s, the event will include Melville’s Petting Zoo, face painting, Hartley’s Reptile show and the Port Douglas Fire Brigade will be bringing one of their big rigs to the event.
“We are teaming up with Lure Restaurant and Bar and Barbados so the entire Marina will be involved,” Chris said, “and there will be 10 food vendors and music on the grassed area next to the inlet.”
“There will be so much seafood, you won’t know what to do with yourself,” he said.
The event is free, starting at 12 noon and continuing until 7pm.
“The music line up is amazing with the Kroovs, Shannon Hunter, The Montgomery Brothers and Sun Salute keeping the party going,” Chris said.
“We are using the event to also celebrate Hemingway’s first birthday, and as a thank you to all who have supported us,” he said.
“This event has been very missed by locals and visitors, so it is exciting that we are bringing it back,” Chris said, “and what better way to enjoy a free, family-friendly day, watching the sunset from the marina, grooving to some live music.”
“Of course the main feature will be the seafood – coupled with great beer and specially selected wines for the day,” Chris said.
The entire boardwalk of the marina will be celebrating the ‘fruits of the sea’ and full details of the event and line-up of food vendors will be in the
prior to July 9.
