MAN STABBED IN PD

Moss­man de­tec­tives have charged two men fol­low­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions into the al­leged un­law­ful wound­ing of a man at Port Dou­glas. It will be al­leged the pair had been so­cial­is­ing with a 49-year-old man in the park off Wharf St near the pub­lic toi­let block around 11.20pm when an al­ter­ca­tion oc­curred. The ar­gu­ment es­ca­lated and it will be al­leged the 49-year-old was stabbed with a bro­ken bot­tle. He sus­tained a stab wound to the chest, se­vere bruis­ing and fa­cial in­juries and was taken to Moss­man Hos­pi­tal be­fore be­ing air­lifted to Cairns Base Hos­pi­tal. A 32-year-old Ma­reeba man and a 32-year-old Newell man have both been charged with wound­ing and as­sault oc­ca­sion­ing bod­ily harm. Both men are sched­uled to ap­pear in Moss­man Mag­is­trates Court on July 11.
